Pet permission has two decision-makers. For a furnished stay, look past the listing headline and confirm details about the specific unit and agreement before committing funds.
Ask the owner and building separately
An owner may advertise a pet-friendly apartment while the building has restrictions affecting shared spaces, elevators or certain animals. Request the owner’s permission in writing and ask for the relevant condominium policy. Do not infer acceptance from neighbors having dogs. Rules may differ between a residential tenancy and a tourist accommodation arrangement.
Measure everyday convenience
Look beyond a cute photo of a dog on the sofa. Ask where pets may enter and exit, whether there is a nearby relief area, what surfaces are easy to clean and whether the elevator is suitable for your animal. A busy avenue outside a lobby may change the experience more than a large balcony.
Handle charges carefully
Ask whether additional cleaning fees are mandatory, when they arise and what damage standards apply. The legality of any deposit depends on the contract classification; ordinary urban residential leases have restrictions under Ley 820. Do not accept an unexplained cash “pet guarantee” as standard without checking what agreement is being offered.
Plan the stay’s practical rules
Some buildings limit unattended pets, use of common areas or delivery of pet supplies. Confirm those policies before travel, especially if you work away from home. Include the animal in the initial rental inquiry so the operator does not match you with a unit where consent is uncertain.
